I wish these knees were permitted. It would make positions like side control even more dangerous, as well as the whole grounded/not-grounded stalling strategy.
These are completely brutal. They are still too risky for the fighters to be included in the UFC, in my opinion. There’s a reason it’s no longer permitted.
Yes, this is a brutal situation. I’m not sure I like them, and I understand why the UFC banned them. Being pinned down with no way to cover up and having your shit caved in by a skilled professional’s knees is particularly cruel.
I completely agree with DJ that these should be permitted because they provide a far more accurate representation of what can occur during a battle. The ground game seems to be favored by BJJ these days, but imagine how much it might improve if knees were reinstated? I don’t see how catching a knee while standing in the clinch is any different.
This requires a nsfw tag, bro.
Allowing knees in the UFCS will make any fight nuts.

At the start, who is that getting handstand kneed by Randleman?
Pride is something that never dies.
Herzog tossing Ham is some of the most amusing nonsense I’ve seen in a long time.

This serves as evidence that they are illegal. Every warrior who is kneed here looks like he or she has been murdered.
Kevin Randleman was a monster, to say the least.
Really nice video!
With Heath Herring vs. Hirotaka Yokoi, we’re missing a classic. Knees that are completely nuts. It’s very frightening.
The rule is in place for a reason.
Why the grounded knee rule will never change in 60 seconds
I believe a lot of those people were killed… right there Lol.
Since he didn’t yell “Pride Never Die,” Petr was disqualified.

Knees and kicks that are grounded should be legal.
The ending knee sequence of Saito vs Majima began with, which I adore.
If the referees weren’t so goddamn inept, I’d support legalizing grounded knees.
Soy ufc rules vs. Chad pride rules
Pride is never going to die!
Yan’s knee, on the other hand, didn’t seem to be that bad.
Knees and soccer kicks, please return. Thank you so much.
Kicks and knees to grounded rivals make the sport safer, so much less stalling on the turf.
Kneeling on the ground should be permitted at all times.
PRIDE DOESN’T DIE
To be honest, I believe they should be legal. The pride rules are entertaining.
Randelman’s 1-2 knee is incredibly attractive.
I’ve been watching this sport for almost two decades, and some of those years have been downright cruel.
