  1. Is he just going to chat when he wins, or is this such a big deal? That, in a way, seems to negate the entire argument. His critics would be able to tell whether he is psychologically broken if he remains quiet.

  2. Brunson is not being credited for his efforts. Everyone is behaving as if Holland chose to lose when, in fact, he was simply outperformed. He didn’t have much for Brunson until he gassed in the fifth, and even then he couldn’t get out of guard.

  3. However, the use of the body triangle from the bottom is incessant. Holding people down is not Brunson’s strong suit. He has excellent takedowns and is beastly strong, but while Kevin was regularly attempting getups, he was having a lot of success. This was an infuriating result.

  4. This is exactly what I did during my freshman year of college. It’s preferable to receive a B without attempting an A+ than to attempt an A+ and receive a B. There’s a lot of ego preservation going on here. I eventually grew up and gave it a shot. It was a wise decision.

  5. Or, you know, he really enjoys battling for the sake of it. All of those keyboard psychologists are trying to figure out what happened to a guy who has been doing this for a long time.

To be honest, he’s a breath of fresh air for me; he’s just a dude who enjoys fighting and chatting.

  6. It would be sick if Holland came in the next fight all serious and didn’t say a thing, instead putting on a striking clinic with better footwork, TDD, and clinch work, then went on to talk a lot after he won. I enjoy daydreaming.

  7. Just wanted to express my gratitude for Teddy’s involvement in MMA and his commitment to the sport. Many old-school boxers are dismissive of MMA, or at the very least do not make an attempt to understand it.

  8. After round 2, I believe he was done when he went to his corner and said, “Win, lose, or draw, we’re just having fun!” He is being playful and grateful while concealing his self-doubt. That was my point of view…

  9. Man, remember what I said in the post-fight thread? I was de-voted and referred to as an armchair psychologist. Teddy’s book and Angelo Dundee’s book were both listed. Both of them go into great detail about this mentality.
